Quick Blender Mousse

Quick Blender Mousse

Introduciton:

This quick dessert is a fun tasty treat that can be paired with fruit or can be eaten on its own. The key to the perfect mousse is to stir as much as possible while pouring the hot cream in. this will allow the eggs to cook properly without getting clumpy. Oh and don't add too much vanilla!

Chill: 1 hour

Yield: Serves 4 to 6

Materials:

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • whipped cream, for topping
  • chocolate curls or cocoa, for garnish, optional

Preperation:
Place chocolate chips egg and flavoring in blender and chop. Heat cream until very hot and small bubbles appear at edge. Do not boil. With blender running, pour in hot cream. Blend until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Pour into dessert dishes, cover with plastic wrap, and chill until firm. Serve with whipped cream and shaved chocolate garnish, if desired, or sprinkle the whipped cream with a little cocoa.
Serves 4.

Results:
This was a quick way to make a tasty desert. We wanted to make more, but we lacked the proper ingredients, so we got to experiment. Why I previously said “don’t use too much vanilla” is because that is what we did on the second batch. It was a flavor that was way over powering and as a whole; the second batch lacked the mousse-like consistency that it normally has.
